Beverages Packaging Design

Name: Bee Cool

For this project, students are tasked with identifying and visiting a Wisconsin site, such as a park, building, or cultural attraction. Then they will use their design expertise, develop a beverage brand in collaboration with their chosen location. The goal is to create a brand that enhances the location's national profile and aiming to boost its popularity and draw visitors from across the United States.

The location I chose is called Gratton Laboratory, and their research group is in the Department ofEntomology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They advance scientific understanding of insect-landscape interactions for ecosystem and human health. Our lab values diversity and inclusion, and our research takes place in Wisconsin, the upper Midwest, and Iceland.

The reason I chose this location is because I love nature, and I am also an environmentalist. In addition, a steady stream of scientific reports in recent years are telling us that the number and diversity of wild bumble bees in the United States are falling off a cliff. Therefore, I decided to choose this organization and create a beverage brand for it in the hope of helping this organization to contribute to protecting our wild bumble bees.

First, I named the brand BeeCool, and then created some marketing strategies with reward mechanisms. For example: I wrote some scientific knowledge about bumble bees and then asked people who bought beverages to answer these questions. If they can answer correctly, they will have the opportunity to get a bottle of any beverage of the brand for free, or even a cash reward of up to $1,000. However, the prerequisite for receiving this reward is to go to the insect laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to receive education about bumble bees and then do some things that members of the organization usually do. Only after completing this can, you receive this reward.

The way to participate is to scan the QR code on the outer packaging of the beverage and then download the app to register. For this purpose, I also designed some interactive design pages for the app. Every person who buys beverages, insect lovers, or environmentalists can participate in this project.

I also designed a billboard for it, the purpose of which was to sound the alarm for people in the form of a simple sentence, so that more people would realize how important the role of bear peaks is in nature.
