Clothes Tag Design

This project requires students to pick a piece of clothing from their wardrobe and observe and study it, then think about it for the redesign of the logo and hangtag. I chose a black piece of clothing that I like very much, and its style is a fusion of European dark gothic and Chinese Taoist robes.

When thinking about redesigning the logo for this piece of clothing, I remembered that some characters in Hollywood sci-fi blockbusters Star Wars and Dune would wear similar clothes, and this piece of clothing also reminded me of some clothes worn by nomadic herders in Tibetan areas. Therefore, I translated the pronunciation of a Tibetan Sanskrit letter into English and then found three English

Arabic letters which are A, U, and M that sound closest to that Sanskrit letter. To get the sense and aesthetics of that I wanted this clothe to express, I combined these three letters and stretched and extended the strokes and shapes of the three letters until I feel satisfied with the looking of the logo, and the rebranding of this article of clothe was born.
